ANUNAC 2019 was a success!

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Faculty of Law recently hosted the All Nigerian Universities National Advocacy Championship “ANUNAC 2019” between the 22nd and 25th of September, 2019.

Amidst the nationwide outcry of youth leadership, youth impact and the general clamour for youth participation, the competition seeked to provide a platform for versatile law students across several universities in Nigeria to explore and engage national and international issues via presentations analysing and providing how these problems can be effectively remedied.

It had in attendance over 45 participants from 9 Universities and featured keynote addresses from Dr. Dapo Olanipekun (SAN) of Ehser & Makarios LP, Mr. Dayo Adu of Famsville Solicitors and Mr. Akintayo Iwilade of Simmons Cooper Partners on the theme: ‘Advocacy in learning and practice among aspiring lawyers: current realities; future possibilities’.

It also featured various advocacy contests such as essay writing, debates, moot court presentations and a PowerPoint presentation for the grand finale on the topic ‘Advocating the need for a changed Nigeria: Pragmatic steps towards self-actualization.

After the final contest, the Obafemi Awolowo University emerged the overall Winner; University of Ibadan clinched the second position while the Lagos State University came third with the cash prizes of #150, 000; #100, 000 and #50, 000 respectively.
